Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste was pleased to host Julian Salchegger from Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria), for one week as part of the NEPHEWS Twinning Programme, which has now successfully concluded.

During his stay, Julian took part in several sessions and tutorials and had the opportunity to carry out measurements at both the DiProI and EIS-TIMER beamlines.
His visit proved to be both inspiring and highly productive. Salchegger left „very satisfied with the experience, having gained valuable new knowledge and established meaningful professional connections„. For Elettra, the visit was very positive as we were able to support a motivated young researcher in expanding his expertise and building relationships that will positively contribute to his future career.

The Twinning Programme, a key component of the broader NEPHEWS project, aims to facilitate the transfer of essential knowledge required to work within research infrastructures. This includes both organizational and technical skills, shared between new users and experienced research groups. Participants gain valuable hands-on experience by joining ongoing experiments, providing them with excellent preparation for submitting their own proposals in the future.
Elettra is one of 18 research infrastructures participating in the initiative, collectively offering 135 twinning actions. Due to the current shutdown for the Elettra 2.0 upgrade, the programme is presently hosted exclusively at the FERMI beamlines.
