Within the framework of the NEPHEWS project, supported by its programme for early-stage researchers, HFML-FELIX hosted Michał Dominów as an intern for one week. During his stay, he became familiar with the facility and exchanged research ideas with the local team.
Michał shared that the visit was particularly valuable for getting acquainted with free-electron laser (FEL) technology. Reflecting on his time at HFML-FELIX, he highlighted the research on metal clusters carried out by Dr. Olga Lushchikova using the FELICE laser as especially interesting.
He also noted that studies on catalytic processes at the molecular level and transition metal clusters are closely aligned with his own research at Gdańsk University of Technology, opening up perspectives for future work. In addition, he found the combination of mass spectrometry and infrared spectroscopy highly promising and a valuable complement to his previous experience with spectroscopic methods.
HFML-FELIX remains pleased to welcome visiting young researchers and greatly appreciates the efforts of NEPHEWS in supporting user access to Europe’s neutron, synchrotron, and free-electron laser research infrastructures.
